Coming to the event
The parade will leave at 6.30pm. We expect the front of the parade to arrive at Madeira Drive at 7.15pm and the event to finish at 8pm. Please note all times are approximate.
The parade route will be: North Street, Ship Street, Bartholomews, East Street and Madeira Drive. For the best viewing position, go straight to Madeira Drive and watch the parade arrive. Please do not wait in New Road to watch the parade as this is our assembly zone for 1000 participants and there is no space for audience!
Disabled audience members will have access to the participants viewing area. On arrival at Madeira Drive, ask a steward to direct you or follow the parade to the finale site gates.
We politely ask you not to bring home-made lanterns to the event. We are required to check every lantern, and unchecked home-made versions compromise safety. For this reason, we offer Lantern kits, and
workshops to allow you to make safe lanterns. There are also volunteering opportunities if you wish to get involved in making something larger.

Looking forward to the big parade!
I don celebrate christmas in the traditional sense so I look forward to the burning of the clocks because its my last day before I hybernate for winter and I get to see friends and the parade before I close down my hatches as I dont like the COLD weather and prefer to stay home cosy and warm

Last year, I and no doubt many others paid for and assembled their clocks from the kits you provided (I paid about £16 for 2 lanterns) Because of a small amount of snow, the event was cancelled and many children were dissapointed. I have saved these unused lanterns and hope that I can use them in this year's parade.
Thanks for your comment - as you can see on the Join In page in the instructions for coming to the event, we are welcoming families with lanterns from last year to join this years parade. If you don't still have the instructions for the event day, email us and we'll send them out to you. We'll see you there!
